FOUNTAIN OF LIFE
(PSALM 36:5-9)

Full song:
Short sample:
Sometimes the psalmists offer comfort in the middle of sadness. Sometimes they matter-of-factly explode in anger and frustration with God. (By the way, the very fact that he inspired men to include them in the Old Testament canon seems, to me, to be evidence that he's OK with his saints doing honestly expressing such emotions... as long as they're willing to hear his response, like Job..)
And sometimes the psalms skillfully paint a poetic portrait of God in his glory.
I don't know if any of us can even come close to imagining God's full glory.. I know I certainly don't. Paul paraphrased Isaiah 64:4: "eye has not seen, nor has ear heard, nor has it entered into the minds of men..." And remember how God shielded Moses' eyes from seeing even his back to protect Moses from a sight he knew he wouldn't be able to handle? Remember how he appeared to the Hebrew masses as a cloud of fire? And remember how on Mount Tabor Jesus appeared with Moses and Elijah and "His clothing became white and gleaming"?
Personally, I love the way David, the super-psalmist, portrayed God in his glory in Psalm 36. His power is shown throughout the created universe: in the heavens, in the "highest sky," in the mountains, in the deep waters, And, despite this incredible might and glory, God's mercy allows his most precious and glorious creation, us, to take refuge under his protective wings, to feast on his abundance and to drink from his fountain. For it's his fountain -- God's very person, manifested for us in the incarnate God/Man from Nazareth -- that is life, itself.
To which I say, "Hallelu Yah!" ("Praise Yahweh/God!")
